The EU Court of Justice's (CJEU) ruling on Polish judicial reforms is no longer relevant as Poland has amended the law, government spokesperson Piotr Mueller said on Tuesday. Mueller added that Poland now awaited a further CJEU ruling on the matter. On Monday the CJEU ruled that Poland's April 2018 provisions lowering the retirement threshold for Supreme Court and Supreme Administrative Court judges infringe on judicial independence. The laws were charged to the CJEU by the EC last October, in the following month Poland amended the contested regulations and returned judges retired under the pre-amendment laws to their chairs.
