PMU: State assistance up by almost a third last year

June 2nd, 2020

Slovakia supported local governments, firms, organisations, artists and ethnic minorities with the highest-ever sum (exceeding 607 million euros) last year, up 31 percent from 2018, according to the Report on State Aid Provided in Slovakia in 2019 submitted for the government session by the Anti-monopoly Office (PMU). More than three quarters of the state assistance (75.49 percent) was allocated in the form of subsidies, non-repayable financial contributions and provided services. The state provided almost one quarter (24.33 percent) in the form of tax allowances. Beneficiaries received assistance amounting to 0.18 percent of the total sum in the form of venture capital.
