Parliament on Thursday rejected a proposal submitted by the opposition Smer-SD party to proclaim September 30 as Munich Betrayal Day. Smer MPs stated that the proposal for a new commemoration day is meant to be a reaction to the meeting between German, British, French and Italian representatives on September 29 and 30, 1938, when, without Czechoslovakia's knowledge or participation, it was decided that the country would have to cede part of its territory to Germany and agree to other humiliating conditions.'
