Opposition wants MPs' resolution to condemn persecution in China

November 28th, 2019

Five Czech opposition centre-right parties want to push through a resolution in the Chamber of Deputies to condemn the human rights violations and persecution of religious and ethnic minorities in China, MP Vit Kankovsky has said. The draft resolution follows up a petition, in which 49,000 citizens asked the Chamber of Deputies to adopt a stance on the Chinese persecution of the people practicing the Falun Gong meditation exercises. It also condemns the oppression of the Christians, Uyghurs and Tibetans as well as political opponents of the Chinese Communist regime, and wants the government to call on Beijing to observe human rights.
