Opposition politicians mark Independence Day

November 11th, 2019

Poland's politicians representing three opposition groupings on Monday held their own ceremonies at monuments and historic sites in different locations across Warsaw. Politicians representing the main opposition party, the centrist Civic Platform (PO) on Monday laid flowers at the monument to Marshal Jozef Pilsudski near the Belvedere Palace in central Warsaw. Malgorzata Kidawa-Blonska, a PO leader, said that the fathers of Poland's independence differed in many respects in 1918, but they managed to focus on their shared goals, which helped them to rebuild Poland. She also encouraged Poles to look for things that they have in common with one another to ensure "a safe Poland", and "to take care of its dignity and good development."
