Number of Ukrainian refugees at Czech schools reaches 29,800

May 23rd, 2022

Some 26,000 Ukrainian child refugees attended elementary schools and 3,800 went to kindergartens in the Czech Republic in mid-May, which is a 12 percent increase since early April, Czech School Inspectorate head Tomas Zatloukal told reporters on Monday. In reaction to the Ukrainian child refugees attending Czech schools, a half of elementary schools and one in five kindergartens struggle with difficulties to assure a sufficient capacity and teaching staff, Education Minister Petr Gazdik said.
