The New Campus Albertov with two new teaching and research centres of Charles University (UK) in Prague is to cost 7.8 billion crowns and open for scientists and students in 2026, UK Rector Tomas Zima accompanied by Prime Minister Andrej Babis and other government representatives told journalists on Tuesday. Originally, the construction of the new campus, which will be UK's biggest construction project in the centre of Prague in the last 100 years, was to start in early 2020 and end by 2022. Ten years ago, the costs of the project were estimated at 2.7 billion crowns from the state budget. Now the project is to be financed from various sources.
