An interdisciplinary group for epidemic situations (MeSES), headed by Petr Smejkal, the chief epidemiologist of the Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine (IKEM) in Prague, has been established at the Czech Health Ministry, the group announced in a press release today. The group, comprised of physicians and epidemiologists as well as lawyers, economists and sociologists, considers a rise in the vaccination, testing and tracing capacities along with improved diagnostic of the new coronavirus mutations the most fundamental steps in fighting the pandemic.
