NATO allies come together for Slovak Shield 2018

Almost 1,500 Slovak troops and members of the foreign armed forces are taking part in this year's largest international military exercise called Slovak Shield 2018, which began on Friday and will last until September 28, the defence ministry said on Friday. Held at Lest military training facility, Slovak Shield 2018 is one of the most important military exercises in the central European region and sees the participation by soldiers from the Visegrad Four group (the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia), members of the Indiana National Guard and US ground troops in Europe. The purpose of Slovak Shield 2018 is to increase preparedness with respect to current security threats.
