Defence Minister Jaroslav Nad said on Thursday that there might be an extraordinary increase in the defence budget this year, meaning that defence spending could reach two percent of Slovakia's GDP. Nad pointed to the fact that all other countries on NATO's eastern flank are already spending at least two percent of their respective GDP on defence, and Slovakia should also fulfill the commitments it has towards its allies, which have provided the country with military technologies worth billions.
