Municipal waste rises slightly to 5.9 m tonnes in 2019

November 25th, 2020

Czechs produced 5.9 million tonnes of municipal solid waste in 2019, which is 1.6 percent more than in 2018, while the total waste production dropped slightly to 37.4 million as against 37.8 million tonnes in 2018, according to data published by the Environment Ministry. Landfill sites were still used too much, the ministry's report said. According to the ministry, it is 551 kg of waste per capita per year, seven kg more than in 2018. However, if all sorts of waste are considered, an average Czech produces 3,502 kg per year.
