MPS pass bill on security vetting extension during crises

November 26th, 2020

The Chamber of Deputies, the lower house of Czech parliament, approved a government amendment enabling to extend the validity of security vettings necessary for access to classified data by up to one year during crisis situations, in the state of legislative emergency today. Consequently, the applicants for security vetting extension will not face the risk of not getting the respective decision by the National Security Office (NBU) in time during a crisis. MPs did not propose any change to the amendment and did not debate it either before the vote.
