The Czech-Polish intergovernmental agreement tackling the impact of mining in the Polish Turow lignite mine near the Czech border is at variance with neither the Czech nor European law, Environment Minister Anna Hubackova has written to CTK in reaction to some opponents of the deal. The Czech and Polish prime ministers, Petr Fiala and Mateusz Morawiecki, signed the bilateral agreement in Prague on Thursday. According to the Greenpeace and Frank Bold organisations, the agreement does not sufficiently protect the Czech borderland and the local water sources, and thereby violates Czech and EU laws.
