Minister supports criticism of China over abuse of Uighurs

October 7th, 2020

Czech Foreign Minister Tomas Petricek personally supports the statement of 39 United Nations countries that criticises China for human rights abuses of ethnic Uighur Muslims, although the Czech Republic did not support it in the UN on Tuesday, he told CTK today. Czechia did not support the document presented by Germany because the government did not reach agreement on it, Petricek said. However, Czech diplomacy will do its utmost to protect the rights of minorities in China, he said.
