Agriculture Minister Jan Micovsky said on Tuesday during his visit to the village of Rudno nad Hronom (Banska Bystrica region), which was hit by a flood on Monday, that the misfortune was caused by a neglected dam that was holding back local streams, claiming that it probably had a structural weakness. According to the minister, the dam was in use for more than a decade and probably was not being maintained properly. The local catchment area spans 1,200 hectares, and all the streams converge on the broken dam.
