Although the most recent two holidays in Slovakia are celebrated only a few days apart from each other, the road from the 1944-45 Slovak National Uprising to Slovak statehood was neither so short nor easy, Prime Minister Igor Matovic said on Facebook, marking Constitution Day, on Tuesday. According to the prime minister, the road to freedom was obstructed by communists and occupants, who "believed that because they gave us freedom once as liberators, they could also take it away".
