Matovic no longer enjoys security detail assigned to ex-premiers

September 3rd, 2021

Finance Minister Igor Matovic is no longer protected by the security team that protected him as the ex-prime minister, as the assignment of his security detail was fully completed at the end of July, the Interior Ministry told TASR on Friday. Currently, the ex-prime minister is guarded by the security detail that he is entitled to as a minister, the ministry's press department said. Matovic, as the former prime minister, made use of his right to be protected by state security guards for 90 days following his resignation, which took place on March 30. In early July, Interior Minister Roman Mikulec decided to extend this level of protection by another month, citing potential threats to Matovic's life and health.
