Matovic condemns president's actions on referendum

July 7th, 2021

Leader of the senior coalition OLaNO party and Finance Minister Igor Matovic condemned on Wednesday the actions taken by President Zuzana Caputova regarding a proposed referendum on a snap election, saying on social media that she robbed the people of the right to express their opinion. The head of state approached the Constitutional Court because of the referendum question, which declared it unconstitutional earlier on Wednesday. "I'm not in favour of an early election, but I'm deeply convinced that opposition voters have the right to a referendum on this issue, regardless of whether we like it or not," Matovic wrote.
