Matecna: Slovakia to cut trade deficit in farm produce via two pillars

January 2nd, 2020

Slovakia will reduce its negative trade balance in agricultural commodities via two pillars - increases in domestic consumption and in exports, Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Gabriela Matecna (Slovak National Party/SNS) has told TASR in an interview. According to Matecna, exports of agricultural commodities are related to their carbon footprint. "We strive to export to the countries closest to us. We're able to export top-quality products. We're not able to export much, but we are able to export products with high added value and of high quality. We've made this possible for our farmers and food producers through so-called support for exhibitions, which we've tripled.
