Marianka mayor steps down following intimidation and arson

Mayor of the town of Marianka (Bratislava region) Dusan Statelov has decided to resign following an act of arson on his stable that took place at night over the course of last weekend. "The police concluded that it was intentional and that the fire could have spread to the neighbouring house," Satelov said on Facebook, noting that someone set his car on fire two years ago. The police still have not caught the person responsible for destroying his car. Back then, the mayor suggested that the incident could have had something to do with his approach towards developer's projects and the rejection of unregulated construction in the town.
