Main Christmas tree in Bratislava erected on Thursday

A Christmas tree - a 25-year-old, 14-metre-tall spruce donated by a resident of the borough of Raca - was erected on Bratislava's Main Square on Thursday, but it will be decorated and lit up only when the city's Christmas markets open on November 22, TASR learnt from Bratislava City authority spokesman Peter Bubla on the same day. This year, the Slovak capital has come up with a new concept for Christmas markets that is aimed at a high-quality, environmentally friendly, safe and visually attractive gastronomic event with an accompanying cultural programme.
