The opposition LMP party has criticised a draft amendment to the penal code, saying it would not do enough to help prevent domestic violence. At a press conference, LMP lawmaker Krisztina Hohn said the justice ministry's amendment proposal did have its share of positive elements like the expansion of parole eligibility or that it ensures stronger protections for children from certain crimes. She added, however, that it would not implement effective enough measures to help authorities recognise cases of domestic violence.
