Lajcak visits Bulgaria, signs memorandum

October 25th, 2019

Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak discussed on Thursday in Sofia Slovakia's support of Bulgaria's efforts to join the euro zone, the Schengen area as well as the OECD, among other things. His visit followed Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva's two visits to Slovakia this year. Lajcak noted that the frequency of these mutual visits proved that relations between the two countries were excellent. The talks between the two ministers confirmed that Slovakia and Bulgaria are strong partners in the EU as well as strong allies in NATO. Lajcak and Zaharieva signed a cooperation memorandum on developing reciprocal trade, increasing investments on both sides, supporting diversification projects in energy and providing development aid.
