The EU has responsibilities towards countries to which European prospects were offered and cannot start ignoring them half way into the integration process, Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak said during his visit to Montenegro on Wednesday. The gravity of the situation is all the greater because Montenegro as a leader of the integration process has already opened all the accession chapters save one and Podgorica is currently waiting for an impetus from Brussels to open the final chapter. Lajcak voiced hope that the European Union will "get its head together" and, despite all its problems with Brexit and European Parliament election, will not forget about the countries in its neighbourhood.
