Krajniak presents report on 2020 social situation

Labour Minister Milan Krajniak, at a session of the tripartite on Monday, presented a report on Slovakia's social situation in 2020, with the Labour Ministry concluding in the document that the pandemic and related anti-coronavirus measures have impacted the labour market. According to the report, total employment decreased by 2 percent last year, while there were 2,531,300 working people on average. Meanwhile, the number of employees dropped by 41,900 and that of self-employed went down by 9,400. The Labour, Social Affairs and the Family Centre (UPSVaR) calculated that unemployment rose by almost 25 percent last year, with the number of unemployed individuals exceeding 200,000. The unemployment rate increased by 2.65 percentage points y-o-y to reach 7.6 percent, the first increase in the rate since 2012.
