Korcok meets UN General Assembly president in New York

Slovak Foreign Affairs Minister Ivan Korcok on Tuesday met incumbent president of the UN General Assembly Abdulla Shahid, who is also the foreign affairs minister of the Maldives. At the meeting, Korcok expressed his belief that Shahid as current UN General Assembly head and a representative of small island countries will bring a whole new perspective on the risks stemming from climate change to the organisation. As a minister that comes from an island country with an average altitude of two metres, he is very much aware of the climate change issue and the risk of rising global ocean levels, Korcok said.
