The Hungarian government supports that apart from Ukraine and Moldova, Georgia and Bosnia-Herzegovina should also be granted European Union candidate member status, the justice minister said in Brussels late on Wednesday. Judit Varga, ahead of a summit of EU leaders starting on Thursday, said that Bosnia and Herzegovina could not be "left out" of the group of Western Balkan countries aimed to join the EU. Concerning Georgia, Varga said that in Ukraine and Moldova's case "a geopolitical decision was made overwriting the earlier logic of enlargement in light of an immediate security threat in the community's neighbourhood". "Despite the fact that the decision was made in such a political situation, no difference should be made between countries," she said.
