Ivo Mares, who has so far worked in the Diakonia church provider of social services and special education, on Tuesday said he wants to run for Czech president as a civic candidate without any political party's support on the basis of citizens' signatures on his candidacy petition. Mares, who in the past worked as a priest and the director of a British telecommunications company, said his priorities were to halt the fall of the Czech Republic into poverty and to "treat the impotent state" he said was unable to react to current situations.
