Incumbent Senate speaker seeks another term

Stanislaw Karczewski, incumbent speaker of the Polish Senate (upper house), announced on Thursday that he will be the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party's candidate for Senate speaker. He said his term of office in the upper house had been successful. "I think that I dealt with the emotions of senators, I was able to conduct the Senate's sessions and, above all, the matters for which the chamber is responsible. Thus I believe that I will be the candidate for the position of Senate speaker," Karczewski said.
