Ice hockey champion Svoboda commits suicide

Former Czech national ice hockey team goalie Adam Svoboda, 41, a 2005 world champion, has committed a suicide, the club Dynamo Pardubice said on its website today. In 2005 he caused a car accident while drunk-driving, due to which he was dismissed as the coach of goalies of the Czech national team under 18 and the Elite League team Pardubice. Svoboda played 32 matches for the Czech national team. Along with the gold from the Vienna world championship in 2005, he also has the silver medal from Riga in 2006.
