Hurricane hits highest Czech mountain Snezka

January 17th, 2022

Snezka, the Czech Republic's highest peak (1,603 m), in the Krkonose (Giant Mountains), was hit by a hurricane with the speed of up to 126 km/hour on Monday morning, due to which the cableway is not running, the Polish Mountain Rescue Service has said on its website. The windstorm has halted both sections of the cableway from Pec pod Snezkou to the mountain peak. The Krkonose Mountain Rescue Service has issued a warning against strong wind that may even exceed 126 km/hour on the mountain ridges.
