Hungary gas consumption up 26 pc in April

Natural gas consumption in April was up by an annual 26 percent in April, the Hungarian energy and public utility regulatory authority (MEKH) said on Tuesday. The growth was driven by higher public demand due to the cold weather and an almost 50 percent growth in demand by gas-fuelled power plants, MEKH said. The supply was uninterrupted throughout the period, with mostly Ukrainian and Austrian imports making up for the increased demand, it said.
