House foreign affairs committee condemns forced aircraft landing in Minsk

The parliamentary foreign affairs committee on Thursday condemned the recent forced emergency landing of an aircraft in Minsk, Belarus, describing it as an illegal act that endangered the passengers on board. The committee called for an immediate investigation into the incident by the International Civil Aviation Organisation and the release of Belarusian opposition journalist Roman Protasevich, who was on board the plane and was detained by the Belarusian regime following the forced diversion.
