Homage paid to Communist show trial victim General Pika

Representatives of the military, the Senate, church, the Prague City Hall and the Prague 6 Town Hall attended a commemorative act for the memory of General Heliodor Pika, a victim of the Communist judicial murder, outside the General Staff building today. Pika was accused of treason in 1948 not long after the communist takeover in Czechoslovakia. He was sentenced to death in January 1949, and he was executed by hanging on June 21, 1949 at the Bory prison in Plzen, west Bohemia.
