Helicopter pilots in short supply in Slovakia

"A lack of qualified helicopter pilots is currently a reality for many transport helicopter companies. The Helicopter Rescue Service is experiencing similar problems, but fortunately we still have enough pilots to cover the service's needs," Hopjakova said. She said the job required talent, comprehensive studies and continuous training. According to a European Commission decree, a specific requirement when it comes to the pilots of rescue helicopters is that they must have at least 1,000 flight hours under their belts.
