Speaking at the commemoration of the 54th anniversary of the occupation of Czechoslovakia by Warsaw Pact troops in Bratislava on Friday, Prime Minister Eduard Heger drew parallels between the 1968 event and the situation in Ukraine. "The Prague Spring represented the desire of our people for freedom and a better life," said the premier, adding that the ensuing occupation suppressed liberalisation. "We longed for freedom and better lives, the same thing that the Ukrainians long for today," he remarked.
