Health ministry: Two PCR tests a month could be free, antigen tests to cost EUR 5

July 20th, 2021

Covid-19 PCR tests will be free of charge even beyond cases in which someone has come into contact with an infected person, but the ruling coalition is still discussing their number, health ministry spokeswoman Zuzana Eliasova told TASR. "The exact number is still being discussed, we're inclined towards two PCR tests per month, that is two paid PCR tests in addition to cases of contact with an infected person," said Eliasova, adding that antigen testing won't be free but will only incur a handling fee of 5 euros. She noted that antigen testing will take place in hospitals, while the testing materials will be supplied by the State Material Reserves Administration (SSHR).
