Health minister believes 20,000-30,000 Poles infected with Covid-19

May 5th, 2020

Health Minister Lukasz Szumowski on Tuesday said he suspects that between 20,000 and 30,000 people in Poland are infected with Covid-19. When asked by private broadcaster TVN24 about the actual scale of Covid-19 incidence in Poland, Szumowski replied: "We suspect that the number here is not 40,000, but may be between 20,000 and 30,000. As is the case all over the world, there are more people with the virus than shown by positive tests. This is obvious." According to recent data from the Ministry of Health, coronavirus infections have so far been confirmed in over 14,242 people.
