Hamran denies abusing powers

In reaction to Smer-SD's intention to file a criminal complaint against him, interim Police Corps President Stefan Hamran has told TASR he was not aware of having abused his powers while carrying out his profession in any way. "If Mr. Fico and Mr. Kalinak deem that I have committed the crime of abusing a public official's powers, I view it as their legitimate right to file a criminal complaint," the acting police chief said. Smer-SD member and ex-interior minister Robert Kalinak said on Tuesday that Hamran had ordered the police to detain and charge Smer-SD head and MP Robert Fico during a party-organised protest in Bratislava in December.
