Gulyas: Referendum on child protection to be held late 2021, early 2022

The referendum on child protection will be held at the end of 2021 or early 2022, and is expected to strengthen Hungary's position, the prime minister's chief of staff told a regular press briefing on Thursday. The government sees the events of the past weeks as an "attack from Brussels" because of Hungary's child protection law, which European Union institutions have said to discriminate against the LGBTQ community, Gergely Gulyas said. Launching a referendum bid on the issue was an answer to that "attack", he said.
