Govt asks MPs to extend state of emergency until March 16

The minority government of PM Andrej Babis's ANO and the Social Democrats today approved its request for the extension of state of emergency due to COVID epidemic by another 30 days until March 16, Deputy PM Jan Hamacek has told CTK. The Chamber of Deputies, the lower house of Czech parliament, is to deal with the government request on Thursday afternoon. The cabinet will ask for its extension that will enable it to order anti-epidemic measures for the sixth time.
