The junior governing For the People party doesn't see any reason to change the Slovak constitution, party vice-chair Juraj Seliga said on Thursday, adding that amending the constitution was a bad idea that shouldn't be dealt with via fast-track legislative proceedings. According to Seliga, the constitution "isn't a tear-off calendar, and changes mustn't allow politicians to promote their political goals". "Any change to the constitution should be the subject of discussion and comments, not hastily submitted to parliament, not to mention that such a change would weaken the character of parliamentary democracy," Seliga said.
