First case of B.1.640 coronavirus variant detected in Czechia

The Teaching Hospital in Hradec Kralove, east Bohemia, has been the first to detect the B.1.640 coronavirus variant in the Czech Republic, in a man from the Hradec Region, hospital spokesman Jakub Sochor told CTK today. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), this variant was first reported from the Democratic Republic of the Congo last September, and has been carefully monitored since November.
