European Swimming Championships starts in E Hungary

May 21st, 2012

The 31st European Swimming Championships started in Debrecen, E Hungary, on Monday with the qualifiers. Fully 570 swimmers from a record 44 countries are participating in the competitions. Most competitors are from Italy (49), Hungary (36) and Germany (35). Hungary is hosting the European Swimming Championships for the fifth time, more than any other county. Debrecen in mid-February jumped in to organise the event as Antwerp, which was originally selected, stood down for financial reasons.
