September 24th, 2019
Evgeni Tanchev, advocate general for the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), has declared inadmissible two requests by separate Polish courts to issue a preliminary ruling on Poland's new regime for disciplinary proceedings against judges. The first request, made by the Lodz District Court, was regards the guarantees of judicial independence after disciplinary proceedings were introduced for judges in Poland. The other was submitted by the District Court in Warsaw concerning its doubts whether the new regime for disciplinary proceedings against judges in Poland is consistent with EU law.
