EU fines Poland over continued mining near Czech border

The EU Court of Justice today fined Poland with half a million euros daily for not having stopped mining in its Turow mine close to the Czech border, the court has said in a press release. Warsaw is to pay the financial sanction until it obeys the spring court order and until it finishes the works in the mine. The court issued the preliminary decision on stopping the mining after the Czech legal complaint saying that the mine threatened the drinking water in Czech municipalities.
