The European Public Prosecutor's Office is looking into a potential conflict of interest of Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis in awarding public contracts and subsidies to Agrofert, a Czech concern active in agriculture, the chemical industry and the media, among other sectors. Babis had business interests in Agrofert until 2017 when he transferred his shares to trust funds to comply with an amendment of the Czech legislation on conflict of interest, iROZHLAS.cz said. Babis responded by saying that Czech institutions, which had already reviewed the issue, did not need any help from the EU institutions.
