The European Parliament on Thursday positively opined Poland's candidate for EU agriculture commissioner Janusz Wojciechowski. The legislative body failed to approve Hungary's and Romania's candidates for commissioner seats. All three candidates were asked to lodge explanations regarding their statements of assets. In the case of Wojciechowski, who was asked to provide documentation on a Brussels flat which he had failed to list in an earlier statement of assets, the EP found no conflict of interest risks. The other two commissioner candidates, Romanian Rovana Plumb and Hungarian Laszlo Trocsanyi, were negatively opined on conflict of interest grounds.
