Electricity price in Slovakia breaking new records, exceeding 500 per MWh

August 16th, 2022

The growth in electricity prices in Slovakia continues at an extremely rapid pace, TASR learnt on Tuesday. Electricity for Slovakia to be supplied next year was available on the Prague Energy Exchange (PXE) at 504 per megawatt hour (MWh) on Monday (August 15) after breaking the psychological threshold of 400/MWh only on August 1. A year ago electricity was being traded at some 70/MWh. Germany and Hungary have reported similar record prices.
