Education Ministry state secretaries to quit if Groehling resigns over crisis

August 22nd, 2022

Education Ministry state secretary Svetlana Sithova told a press conference on Monday that she won't stay in her post if Education Minister Branislav Groehling resigns over the coalition crisis, explaining that she wouldn't see any room for the changes that she came to push through at the ministry. "I didn't come here just for the job, I came here for children and my colleagues from the field so that we could make changes. I will not stay here if the minister [Groehling] leaves because I wouldn't see any room to continue to make the changes that we all came here for," she said, adding that she and her fellow state secretaries have been discussing this for the past few weeks and are of the same opinion, which is that they came as a team to implement long-overdue and long-desired changes. "If we can't carry them out, there's no point in staying here any longer," she said.
